Not Your Grandma's Lemonade

This article appeared in the November edition of Miss Marijuana. Read the original here.

Who doesn’t love a cold glass of lemonade on a hot summer day, or any day? But this isn’t your grandmother’s lemonade: our recipe uses CBD oil for an extra splash of flavor! Sweet, tart, and refreshing, this lemonade recipe will sweeten your day and help you unwind and reflect on your final days of summer.

Syrup or Sugar: What’s the Difference?

Sugar, water, lemons…should be easy, right? But here’s the problem: when adding large amounts of sugar, you’ll notice grains of sugar at the bottom of your pitcher (a phenomenon known as saturation). To avoid this sickly-sweet pitfall, our recipe will use syrup instead of sugar. Keep scrolling to see how we make our favorite CBD Lemonade!

You’ll need:

  • 1 ¾ cups white sugar

  • 1 cup water

  • 9 medium lemons, or more as needed

  • 7 cups of ice-cold water

  • Joy Organic’s Tropical Sunrise: Organic Full Spectrum CBD Tincture with THC (or another CBD oil of your choice!)

Directions

Step 1: Juice Your Lemons

Start by rolling your lemons on the counter. This will release the juice and make your job a lot easier! Next, cut your lemons in half and squeeze them by hand or with a juicer into a bowl. Set aside your lemon juice until Step 3.

Step 2: Making Syrup

To make syrup, boil 1 cup of water. Then, add in 1 ¾ cups of white sugar and once again bring the mixture to a boil. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.

Step 3: Stir!

Pour 7 cups of cold water into a large pitcher. Add in your lemon juice and syrup to taste. Finally, mix in your choice of CBD oil. For this recipe, we’re using Joy Organic’s Tropical Sunrise: Organic Full Spectrum CBD Tincture with THC.

Not sure how much CBD oil you should add? Beginners should start with two 0.5ml drops of CBD oil. From there, adjust the dose to your personal preference. Let us know in the comments how yours turned out!
